Sheppie Snippets: Science week to be held at museum

Schools and the public are invited to take part.

PORT Shepstone Maritime Museum will host a National Science week from Monday, July 29 to August 3.

This project is linked to science and technology sponsored by the National Research Foundation to educate the public, especially pupils, about the impact of climate change on the ecosystem.

The museum will host a climate change exhibition and talks on recycling, indigenous knowledge systems (IKS), careers in climate change and maritime ocean economy.

Diabetes day

The Hibiscus Hospital in Port Shepstone will host a diabetes open day at the hospital this Saturday, July 27. It is scheduled to take place from 9am to 2pm. There will be various talks, as well as information tables where people can find out more about foot health, the use of oral medication and how best to use insulin.

Prayer

The Shree Raam Narayan Mandir will host its annual Ganga Pooja at My Den, Oslo Beach this Saturday, July 27 at 2pm. Sa Re Ga Ma Music School and Prema Jyothi Seva Sungam will do bhajans. Prasad and supper will be served. The Mandir will also observe Pancho Pooja the next day, Sunday, July 28 at the Mandir from 7.30am.

The Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir will observe Luxmi Puja on Friday, August 9 at 6pm. All are welcome and supper will be served.

An art, craft, food and flea market will take place at Halfway Ford Port Shepstone on Saturday, August 3 at 8am.

Bread of Heaven

The annual Bread of Heaven Fun Run/Walk will be held on September 7. The fundraising target for 2019 is R250 000, which will sustain the organisation’s school feeding programme for the next five months. The programme benefits indigent and needy children from 12 public schools and creches in the Ugu District.
