Actions speak louder than words on Mandela Day
The care centre is the flagship project of the Genesis Trust and has been in operation since 2005.
As part of its Mandela Day initiative, the management team at Southcoast Mall visited the Genesis Care Centre in Marburg on Thursday last week.
Marketing manager Sanitha Amod, and centre manager Jayne Munro did not arrive empty-handed – they were armed with goody bags containing toiletries for every patient, as well as refreshments in the form of juice and cake.

Mrs Amod said the management team believed in Madiba’s ethos that a small gesture of solidarity with humanity was a step towards a global movement for good.
“This is our way of sharing hope, kindness and love,” she said.
Sharon Jones, operations manager at Genesis Care Centre said they were extremely grateful for the donation, which, she said, patients would put to good use.
The care centre is the flagship project of the Genesis Trust and has been in operation since 2005.
It serves as a 40-bed step-down facility for those infected/affected by HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other chronic illnesses.
Patients referred there are those who are totally dependent on state or non-profit agency support for their healthcare.
Ms Jones said the centre relies heavily on the generosity of the corporate and public sector for donations.
“At the moment we are almost at capacity in terms of patients and like all public benefit organisations, we require operational funds to cover items such as maintenance, electricity, salaries and the like,” she said.
Donations of non-perishable foodstuffs, bed linen, pyjamas for men and nighties for women are also most welcome.
