Help needed to make pet vaccination drive a success

Harmony Hill Rescue Havens will be holding a free rabies and five-in-one vaccination drive for dogs and cats at Qwabe supermarket in the Madlala rural area on Saturday, August 17 at 9am.

“We need the communities assistance to make this a success, as we would like to be able to give each owner something practical that he/she can use to improve the daily lives of their animals.”

“If you feel moved enough to help, please consider donating something from the wishlist. We will arrange collection if needed,” she said.

The previous drive held in Louisiana this year.

Mdlala residents bringing their dogs to the vaccination tables will be rewarded with free dry dog food and a healthy supply of fresh bonemeal, water and food bowls, winter blankets for their animals, dip facilities and treatment against skin conditions and worms, vet advice from participating veterinarian Doctor Carina Texeira from Siphofu and free collars and leads.

There will also be a mini dog show with prizes for the best looking dog, biggest and smallest dog and best-dressed owner and dog.

The Harmony Hill wishlist entails; cash donations to pay for medical equipment – this covers the actual vaccinations, needles and syringes, deworming medication, mange treatments and tick and flea dip.

Second-hand collars and leads, water and food dishes. Grey blankets for cold dogs who have no shelters and sleep on the ground. Old and used dog and cat baskets/beds.

Cold drinks to give away. Dry dog food to make up giveaway packs of four kilograms. Plastic bags to pack dry dog food into. A hundred dog kennels for medium and large dogs.
