Tweni Talk: Keep dogs contained or pay the penalty
Suddenly, without warning, the Rottweiler jumped up and bit her on the upper arm and back.
RESIDENTS who own a dogs and are unable to keep them inside their yards, be aware that roaming pets will be reported to relevant authorities, including Law Enforcement (039 6825555), Lower South Coast SPCA’s Lauren Ferreira or the SPCA’s emergency number (083 2226355).
Negligent owners may lose their pets or need to spend hard-earned money to get them back.

Moira King was out walking with a friend on Ibis/Stapleton Roads last Sunday morning and just before they got to the huge vacant plot at the stop street, they noticed three big dogs (a Rottweiler and two Weimaraners) wandering around the plot. The couple stopped walking as soon as the dogs began running towards them.
One of the Weimaraners jumped up at Moira from behind and suddenly, without warning, the Rottweiler jumped up and bit her on the upper arm and back. The dogs then ran down Ibis Road after her companion managed to chase them away.
If Moira had fallen down, it could have been a very different story.
It is totally unacceptable that people are unable to walk or run along streets and also very unlikely that the owner of these three dogs will come forward.
Prompt reaction
Residents and businesses extend grateful thanks to RNM Fire and Rescue, as well as security companies (especially those along Commercial Road and Marine Drive) for the prompt service during last week’s bush fires.
Without the fire department’s input, there could have been serious damage to houses along Marine Drive with fires being fanned by strong winds.
Impressive results
Well done to Ruben Rudling, who placed third in the ‘Sprogs’ 25km event, Tayne Rudling, who came first overall (25km) and first sub-junior, and Brent Richter, who won the junior 45km and placed eighth overall, at last Sunday’s Ingeli MTB Classic held at Harding Country Club.

Happy celebrations
Belated birthday wishes to Dave Ledward who turned 81 years young on July 30th – he is still working as a dedicated electrician. Never say never. Birthdays greeting this week go to Adele Pretorius (July 31st), Inika Curnow (August 1), Chris Polinski and Grant Wood (2nd) and Deborah Berry (6th).
And don’t forget the Umtentweni Residents’ and Ratepayers’ meeting on the first Wednesday of every month at Tweni Library from 5.15pm. All news to Leila.
