Book by local author receives rave reviews
Christopher wasn’t aware of the review feature until he got a phone call from his father telling him that someone had given him a five star review.
Christopher Smith (35) who grew up on the South Coast recently published a book titled ‘Blood on the Range’ which has also earned him a contract with Outlaws Publishing in the USA.
A former Port Shepstone High pupil, Christopher is a financial adviser and lives in Durban. He still has strong ties to the coast as his parents, Don and Ria, live in Umtentweni.

Christopher loves reading and has always wanted to write a book, but procrastinated and put it off until eventually he took the plunge and wrote a few chapters which he gave to friends to read.
Their positive reaction encouraged him to continue writing and eventually two-years later Blood on the Range was completed.
The book follows the adventures of Nathan ‘Nate’ Todd, an out-of-work cowboy who is panning for gold in the area around Santa Fuelo, California.
A gang of outlaws has been murdering prospectors in the area for their gold and Nate’s situation is further complicated when he falls for Bridget O’Connell.
Before long he’s caught up in a range war involving her father, Seamus, and the Tunnleys, from the Striking S ranch.
Bullets fly thick and fast as the two factions square off and Nate has his hands full, battling to survive and claim the hand of the woman he loves.
The book is available on Amazon in eBook and paperback.
“I wasn’t aware of the review feature until I got a phone call from my father telling me that someone had given me a five-star review. I popped onto the site and was pleased to see that a reader from Texas had given me five stars and a glowing review,” Christopher said.
The reader wrote: “I read a lot of Westerns but rarely post reviews. Enjoyed this book a lot – a well-done story in style of classic Western tales from the ’40s-’60s. Looking forward to the next book from this author!”
He has also received five-star ratings on goodreads.com and the following review on readersfavorite.com:
“I love reading. Blood on the Range has something for everyone… humour, action and romance. It’s a book for all ages.”
Christopher is currently busy with his next book offering ‘Staring into the Shadows’, a crime thriller set in Durban.
