Police operation targets criminals in Port Shepstone

A number of dangerous weapons were confiscated during the raid.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man at the Port Shepstone taxi rank after he was found in possession of 17 heroin capsules.

The arrest was the result of a joint operation involving Port Shepstone crime prevention, public order policing and the Ugu cluster operational command centre aimed at eradicating illegal use of drugs and alcohol in Port Shepstone and surrounding areas recently.

The man appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court last Friday and was charged with dealing in drugs. The case was postponed for further investigation.

Six people were fined for selling liquor without a licence.

On the same day, officers confiscated a substantial amount of beer in the Mkholombe, Murchison and Louisiana areas.

“Six people were fined for selling liquor without a licence. Several dangerous weapons were also confiscated during the raid,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge.
