Fidler in the Hood: Youthful Jeri blows out 80 candles … with ease

It was a time to celebrate.

GREETINGS one and all. Hasn’t it been a good week? Although, that TV commercial featuring ‘Bridget’ coming out of her coma after four months following a motor car accident and personal insurance broker ‘Sandile’ being ‘so pleased to hear her voice’ is driving your scribe crackers.

But, no matter, the company and bonhomie of people here on the Hibiscus Coast is definitely preferable to watching telly.

The social whirl showed no respite and next up was the monthly Shafts get-together. You have to hand it to the organising committee who laid on a tuna braai breakfast, courtesy of Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club.

Following Jeri and Brian Mills’ 60th wedding anniversary two weeks ago (which elicited queries of Jeri’s rather youthful looks) the couple celebrated Jeri’s milestone 80th birthday with family in Johannesburg. Well done, Jeri.

Melancholy moongazers

The monthly Moondeckers get-together was somewhat tempered by the absence of David Hallé, whose lovely wife Mary died last week. You were sadly missed, David, and Mary.

Conservationist and someone who shares his love for the Hibiscus Coast and all its wonders, David was one of those people who made us welcome soon after arriving here, confirming the Hibiscus Coast was something special.

We are with you in spirit, David and look forward to welcoming you back whenever you are ready. The full moon appeared in all its glory – just another day and night in paradise. See you, Rob.
