Totally enchanting
From start to finish `Some Enchanted Evening’ recently staged at the Azalea Hall captivated the audience and held them spellbound.
Pianist Evan Roberts, singers Samantha Landers and Anthony Downing and cellist Nina Watson presented one of the finest shows ever staged at Margate Retirement Village. From `A Place for Us’ (West Side Story) to `Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ (Evita) the production was filled with all the big hits from Broadway musicals. Samantha gets an extra gold star for her amazing lightning-fast costume changes, with each outfit being glitzier than the last.

Anthony’s rendition of `Bring Him Home’ was spine-tingling as was Nina’s cello solo `Climb Every Mountain’.
It was a totally enchanting evening, although it started on a sombre note with the performers and the audience standing at the start of the show to pay tribute to Liz Curran, the Residents’ Activities’ Committee chairman, who sadly died on July 23.
Liz would have loved `Some Enchanted Evening’.
