Fantastic league results for Friendly Club
Members are confident that the additional carts will make the course a more attractive option for groups who might find the rolling hills a little too daunting to walk.
THE ‘Friendliest Club’ has been on a wonderful winning streak of late and this week we’ve got excellent news to report once again.
The ladies played their penultimate league match for 2019 at Amanzimtoti, taking on the home side.

And, despite the home course advantage having to give lots of shots in the top match, Umkomaas emerged victorious 4-2, with our number one pair winning 5/3, our number twos winning 4/3 and the last pair taking their tight match all the way to the 18th where they were pipped by an excellent putt from the opposition.
The league finals will be played at Umdoni Park next month and the girls are feeling positive about a strong finish.
And it isn’t just the ladies collecting the wins.
Each year Umkomaas, Royal Durban and Selborne Park compete in the composite league, playing a match at each of the courses.
This year Umkomaas reigned supreme and took the title. Congrats to the men.
Saturday’s competition was another instalment in the annual Alliance League and scores were relatively low, indicating that most teams struggled despite the lovely weather and great course conditions.
Winners on the day on 84 points were Francois Rossouw, Bruce Sutcliffe, Kuben Naidoo and Russell McKelvey.
Second place was determined on a count-out on 80 points with Wally Kent, Dave Mulroy, Derek Airey and Neil de Villiers ousting the husband and wife team of Karen and Mike Lithgow and Peter and Linda Toward.
Thanks to Dave Mulroy for the donation of wine for the nearest the pins.
Natalie Singer scooped two (4th and 13th) with Jacques Hulley taking the 9th and Harold Horsley the 17th.
This week Umkomaas took possession of 10 more golf carts and brings our complement to 20.
Members are confident that the additional carts will make the course a more attractive option for groups who might find the rolling hills a little too daunting to walk.
