Just In: Paramedics restart cyclist’s heart after Marine Drive fall

Luckily an advanced life support paramedic was passing at the time and stopped to assist.

A man fell off his bike while cycling along Marine Drive in Shelly Beach earlier today.

An advanced life support paramedic from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service was passing  at the time and stopped to assist.

“He found the patient was in cardiac arrest. He began CPR immediately and after some15 minutes of advanced life support resuscitation, the patient’s heart restarted,” said Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service spokesman, Craig Botha.

He added that the patient was placed on a ventilator and taken to hospital.

Craig thanked bystanders and Maser Security reaction officers for their assistance.
