Talk of the Towns: In the pink for Cansa

Those living in Alkins Drive, Park Rynie, will know what I'm talking about.

A CANCER awareness ‘Pinkathon’ will be held at the Park Rynie campsite on Saturday, September 21 at 8am.

An initiative of the Shape Up Women’s Fitness group, the’ Pinkathon’ is a 5km walk/run, with all proceeds going to Cansa.

Registration is at 7am on the day, but pre-registration can be done at Checkers in Scottburgh on September 7 between 8am and 2pm or at Scottburgh Mall on September 14, also between 8am and 2pm.

Entry is R10 per person for the walk, R20 per person for the run and if you pay R100, you’ll get a cool race pack which includes a T-shirt.

All runners/walkers are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against cancer.

Well done to those who supported the Walk for Values last Sunday.

It was great to see everyone unite for this good cause, and was even better to see the bystanders cheering walkers on.

On another note, we all know that cable theft is a major problem, but we often only realise how bad something really is when it affects us directly.

Those living in Alkins Drive, Park Rynie, will know what I’m talking about.

The telephone cables along this road were apparently stolen last week, meaning that not only do our landlines not work, but for some of us, it means the WiFi is down too.

I hope that someone thinks of a way to sort out this problem for once and for all – and soon!

I also received a complaint about the ‘dip’ in the road in Marine Terrace, Scottburgh.

I’m not quite sure when this road got damaged, but it has been a pretty big nuisance for some time now.

Please, Umdoni, can this be sorted out soon?
