Tweni Talk: Town toasts Mikashin’s win
He will go through to the third and final round of the Toastmasters' International competition later in the year.
MIKASHIN Perumal, son of Narusha and Dr Perumal, did his folks, the town of Tweni and school proud recently. A grade 11 pupil at Curro Creston College, he took part in the impromptu category in the second round of the Toastmasters’ International competition held in Durban.

Mikashin placed first and will go through to the third and final round of this competition later in the year. Well done.
Be responsible
Undisciplined and unleashed dogs are still causing havoc. Paula Gumley and her fiancé took her 14-year old deaf spaniel on a leash to Sunwich Port beach last Sunday to enjoy a bit of rest and relaxation. Three young men and a young woman arrived with five unleashed dogs.
One of the dogs, a Great Dane, rushed over towards the couple and injured Paula’s fiancé in the attempt to get to their leashed spaniel. This is really not acceptable. If you have any complaints about by-laws being broken, phone 039 682555 and report it.
Some opportunists suddenly become car guards as a means of making extra money to support drinking and drug habits – especially at parking spots near beaches. Be aware and only support regular car guards.
Cleo’s little friend
It’s a good job that Gill van Heerden knows her snakes. Her cat Cleo brought a green house snake in for a play-date last weekend and was not happy when Gill set the poor slightly-punctured snake free outside the gate.
Don’t forget that this is still the season of fires and both Umtentweni and Southport had a few last weekend.
Remember to report those fires that are likely to get out of hand to 039 6825555 and remember to give clear directions to the area.
Birthdays this week Heidi Visser (4th), Steve Van Vuuren (5th), Hillary von Horsten (7th), Cassidy Calder, Antoinette Meyer and Nathan Defilippi (10th) – happy birthday everyone.
All news to Leila.
