The Wilsons, who hail from Pinetown, have lived in KwaZulu-Natal their entire lives and have been loyal guests of the resort for many years.
Ken first noticed Marie in 1947 while serving in the navy, saluting the king and queen of England during a visit to South Africa.
A few weeks later, he saw Marie again when she was about to go on a picnic by train from Durban to Amanzimtoti with friends.
He took a chance and introduced himself and the rest is history – it was the start of their lifelong love affair.
Ken and Marie have been blessed with three children, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren
While both admit that marriage comes with challenges, they have faced those challenges together over seven decades.
They say that love, honesty and humbleness have kept them together through the years.
“We were honoured to host the Wilsons for a special treat to celebrate their 70th anniversary. In this day and age, it is rare to find a couple that is so happily dedicated to one another after so long. We wish them many more happy and healthy years together.” says PR and promotions manager Sandi Burger.
