Inspiring lunch empowers women

Guests were treated to thought-provoking talks and given the opportunity to mingle with like-minded women.

Women from all walks of life attended The Queens Women Empowerment Organisation’s  ‘Hats and Heels’  lunch at Margate Hotel last Saturday.

This local Christian based organisation was founded by Kholeka Msizazwe and comprises single, married, widowed and divorced women. It aims to empower women in all spheres of life and heal those who are wounded from their past experiences.

At the well-attended event, guests were treated to thought-provoking talks and given the opportunity to mingle with other like-minded women.

Guest speaker Dudu Khowa, Ugu District Municipality’s special programmes manager, urged women to support each other holistically. Ms Khowa said her department dealt with the special needs of women, children, the elderly and disabled people who had been disadvantaged in the past.

|”It is widely believed that the full participation of both men and women is critical for the development of our country,” she said.

Many of the speakers and guests echoed similar sentiments stating women’s empowerment and achieving gender equality is essential for our society to ensure the sustainable development of the country.
