Walkathon emphasises importance of core values

This year, supporters walked from Park Rynie beach to Scottburgh beach, chanting and carrying banners and posters.

Locals and visitors gathered at Park Rynie beach recently for the much anticipated Walk for Values.

This is an annual walkathon, hosted this year by the Park Rynie Sai Centre, which aims to raising awareness of human values – love, peace, non-violence, truth and proper conduct.

Walk for Values was initiated by the Sathya Sai School in Scarborough, Toronto, Canada back in 2003.

This year, supporters walked from Park Rynie beach to Scottburgh beach, chanting and carrying banners and posters.

Some of the many colourful posters and placards carried during the Walk for Values.

Sai devotees believe that by doing this walkathon, people pledge to try and live up to one or more of these values in their lives.

It is hoped that people who take part in the walk or even just see the banners, will be able to make the world ‘richer’ by committing to practise these values.

People walk through Scott Street in an attempt to raise awareness around human values.

Once at Scottburgh beach, walkers were treated to music and mouth-watering bunny chows.
