Political killing task team shot at near Harding

One member of the team was wounded in the exchange of gunfire.

The Hawks have beefed up security for those investigating political killings in KwaZulu-Natal after a shooting near Harding last Friday.

It is believed members of the political task team set up to probe political killings in the province were travelling from Hluku near Harding towards Port Shepstone when a vehicle began following them.

The vehicle reportedly blocked the task team’s vehicle and the occupants opened fire on the task team, who fired back.

One member of the team was wounded in the exchange of gunfire.

Hawks spokesman Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said, “We can confirm that Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime unit are investigating a case of attempted murder.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.”
