Mrs Naidoo responded that the application forms were distributed last year and people were informed regularly that membership forms had to be signed.

Some people raised the question of imposing a membership system whereby participation in the elections would have been restricted to members only.
Others questioned why their applications were not included on the membership schedule posted on the notice board.
However, the notice of meeting stated that only those members whose names appeared on the temple voter’s roll would be able to vote. Some of the queries appeared to convey the impression that they were confused or that they did not understand the membership application process.
Mrs Naidoo responded that the application forms were distributed last year and people were informed regularly that membership forms had to be signed.
The president of the South African Hindu Maha Sabha, Ashwin Trikamjee presided over the elections but was interrupted by several people opposing the elections, so proceedings had to be postponed.
A notice will be published, inviting those interested in applying for membership of the temple committee in terms of the temple committee constitution, with closing date of 30 days after publication of the notice.
Application forms will be made available, and no applications will be accepted after the closing date.
A membership roll will be compiled and posted on the temple notice board.
The temple committee will then follow due process and convene a special general meeting for the purpose of electing office bearers.
The current committee will remain in office until the special meeting.
