TURNING Point Ministries on Victory Road, Marburg will hold a reunion service in celebration of the late Reverend Sam Owdbehari’s life from today (Wednesday), October 9. The church will also hold various seminars, a youth service and worship services from October 10 to 13. The guest speaker is international evangelist Daniel Owens. Golf day
The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry is holding an 18-hole golf tournament at Port Shepstone Country Club on Friday, October 25.
The format is a four-ball, better ball, Stableford. Tee-off is at 10am, and the fee is R280 per person.
The tournament is being held in support of the Snemfundo Creche in Mkolombe and the Cathulisanani Creche in Bhomela. The Chamber invites all golfers to support the tournament in aid of a good cause. Umbango temple
The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Alayam will observe its Purtassi prayer this Saturday, October 12, with hawan at 2.30pm followed by a special service in praise of Lord Venkateswara. Diwali messages
Temple organisations are invited to submit their Diwali or Deepavali messages by tomorrow (Thursday), October 10 for a Diwali feature to be published in the South Coast Herald on October 24. Diwali will be celebrated on Sunday, October 27.
Quiz night
South Coast Hospice will host its quiz night at the Lion’s Den on Ambleside Road, Umtentweni on Thursday, October 31 at 6pm for 6.30 pm. Cost is R25 per person and teams of two to eight are welcome. To book contact Joy at 079 3092874 or 039 6823031.
Thunee competition
For the past five years, the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort have hosted a Thunee Classic Challenge which has become extremely popular in South Africa, attracting players from as far afield as Johannesburg, Cape Town, Richards Bay, Ladysmith and Durban as well as many local contenders.
The Wild Coast Thunee Classic Challenge will be played at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort on Saturday, November 2 from midday. Closing date for team registration is October 28. Cost is R250 per team of two, and the main prize is set at R30 000.
On Friday, November 1 a Bhangra and Old School classics evening will be held with DJ Vickraj on the turntables at Chico’s buffet restaurant. Cost is R170 per person. Bhangra starts at 6pm.
