Alternative rock band to perform

Calico, an alt-rock four-piece band from Pietermaritzburg, will be playing at Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate this Saturday from 6pm. Calico, an alt-rock four-piece band from Pietermaritzburg, will be playing at Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate this Saturday from 6pm.

This will be preceeded by local artists Tony’s Oldies and Jakes van der Hoven, from noon to 6pm.

Calico’s sound ranges from indie to blues, has hints of funk and is without doubt rooted in rock.

The band came into being in June 2017 and had its debut performance at Mith in July 2017.

It comprises Josh Gilliver (drums), Dev van Rooyen (bass), Ryan Woodgate (lead guitar) and Rudo Ludick (vocals).

In the short time of a few months the band has played venues such as Legends, La Casa, Keg & Trout, Rocky Ridge and has opened for Gangs of Ballet.

Influences include Royal Blood, Biffy Clyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cage the Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Incubus and The Black Keys, to name a few.
