Organised by the Hibberdene Lions, the fund-raising event offered a safe environment for those who wanted to sell their unwanted items directly to the public from their tables or car boots.

Traders were happy. Not only were they recouping a few rands on items they might otherwise have thrown away, but they were also helping the environment by recycling rather than consigning goods to a landfill site.
