Masinenge murderer jailed

An intensive investigation led to the culprit being arrested at his place of employment in Uvongo.

Gcinikhaya Nodipha (25) has been sentenced by the Pietermartizburg High Court to 20 years in jail for murdering 22-year-old Thandeka Madlala in Masinenge last month.

It is believed that Ms Madlala had gone to visit friends in Margate when she met Nodipha, who killed her and slit her throat.

Her friends became worried when she did not return and contacted the police.

A search involving Margate police, local community members and the Port Shepstone K9 Unit ensued.

Investigator Zolile Sibisi was instrumental in bringing Gcinikhaya Nodipha to book.

The search ended when Ms Madlala’s body was found buried in a shallow grave in Masinenge.

According to Margate police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane charges of murder and rape were laid at Margate police station.

“An intensive investigation led to the culprit being arrested at his place of employment in Uvongo.”

Gcinikhaya Nodipha (25) was sentenced to 20 years in jail for the murder of Thandeka Madlala (22).

Investigator Zolile Sibisi was pleased that police’s hard work had paid off.

Margate Station Commander, Brigadier William Slabbert commended the work done by the investigating officer and the team to ensure that the perpetrator was brought to book.
