New Ugu app aims to improve customer service

The mobile app will offer a range of services right at your fingertips.

There’s a new way to report water and sanitation service problems to Ugu District Municipality.

By using the municipality’s mobile app, customers can now report their service-related issues and obtain reference numbers immediately.

According to Ugu, the new app, which went live on Monday this week, also allows customers to view their account balances and meter readings, log calls, or view their logged calls.

“This means no more long wait on the Ugu Call Centre line. Consumers now have a smarter option to access services, with very little effort,” said Ugu spokesman, France Zama.

The app is POPI compliant, and all personal information – such as ID numbers and water account numbers – is verified and protected.

Other app features include a ‘Newsfeed and Notification’ option.

“This allows customers to view all service messages affecting their area, using their addresses. They can also rate the service using the feedback feature,” he added.

For the past couple of years, the municipality has had to cope with a huge volume of calls to its call centre, with the sometimes lengthy wait for a call to be answered causing frustration.

“To better manage all water and sanitation service delivery issues we decided to introduce this platform and we are hopeful that interaction with the municipality will be seamless,” said Mr Zama.

Download the app (UGU District Municipality) from Google Play for Android users, or from Apple’s App Store and register for the service.
