Margate Moves: Spend an evening with Jonothan
Gather a few friends to share a table and be prepared for an evening of great entertainment.
Ever-so talented and charming singer/entertainer Jonothan Didlick will be on stage at this month’s supper theatre offering at Margate Retirement Village. He has compiled a fabulous programme of evergreen songs like `Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, `Come Fly With Me’ and `Somebody To Love’ which he will perform at the Azalea Hall on Saturday, October 26.

Pack a picnic supper, take along some liquid refreshments and glasses, gather a few friends to share a table and be prepared for an evening of great entertainment. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. Tickets at R80pp are on sale from both the Residents’ Activities’ Committee’s office and the admin centre at the village.

Movie magic
The story of a man who was too proud to run will be screened at the next DVD Classic Movie at Margate Retirement Village. Stanley Kramer’s `High Noon’ starring Gary Cooper is the forthcoming attraction. Get to Ronnie Baker Hall this Sunday (20th) at 2.30pm. The cost is R5 per person, which includes tea/coffee and biscuits during intermission.
Crafty affair
Margate Retirement Village’s residents are hard at work preparing for the annual `Morning Market and Craft Fair’ and jumble sale at Azalea Hall, from 8.30am on Saturday, November 2. The fair will offer something for everyone, from flowers and plants, to woodwork, beading, art and clothing.
The market is renowned for its traditional fare and the curry and rice and homemade koeksisters are becoming legendary among foodies.

Brainy bunch
If it’s the last Friday of month, it’s time to test your grey matter at Ramsgate Lions Club’s `Braai and Brain’ evening at the Community Centre next Friday (25th).
Salads are provided (R30 per person) and fires are ready from 6pm, so take along something to braai and your own drinks. Minerals are on sale.
After supper it’s quiz time. Great fun and good prizes are on offer. Cost is R10 per person and each team comprises four players. The A Team won last month’s round by a single point from the high-flying Chasers. Go along and take them on.

One of the biggest parties of the year `Halloween at the Tavern’ is the perfect event to get your fright on at Margate’s Village Tavern on Friday, November 1. Start working on your spooky outfit as there amazing prizes to be won.
In honour of National Children’s Day (November 2), RJ’s Restaurant in Margate plans to hold a fantastic, fun event with a jumping castle, games and cool giveaways for the younger set at the Kiddies’ Day.
Hibiscus Choir will stage the first of its annual Christmas concerts on November 21. It kicks off with a matinee performance at Ramsgate Retirement Village at 2.30pm, followed by an evening show at Margate Village Bowling Club at 6.30pm. For more details, phone Jennifer at 083 3098314.
