Tweni Talk: Recycling bins move to a new spot

RNM still encourages everyone to fill the free, clear recycling bags for recycling.

The recycling bins situated in Commercial Road was there to assist Umtentweni residents save the planet for future generations, do the right thing and keep the suburb clean and tidy, amongst other things.

Naturally residents living close to the bins resented the fact that they had to look out onto a garbage dump. After much pressure from ratepayers, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality moved all offending bins, except for one glass bin, up to the dump located near the RDP houses along St Faiths road.

The removal of the bins did not stop some inconsiderate people from leaving rubbish there, which, by Saturday morning, was strewn all along Commercial Road. According to Derick Morris, the transfer station has been upgraded with a lot more skips and will be emptied twice a week. Residents are reminded that this station is only for garden refuse and recycling.

RNM still encourages everyone to fill the free, clear recycling bags available from JB Licencing and Homemakers Hardware and place them outside your property on the same day as the black garbage bags.
