Driver dies as vehicle plunges off bridge on N2
At the time of writing the vehicle had not been recovered as it had crashed in an inaccessible area directly underneath the bridge.
A vehicle veered off the Saiccor bridge over the Mkomazi river on the N2 freeway at Umkomaas during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
At daybreak, the vehicle was spotted by a passerby who flagged down a passing vehicle for assistance.
Coincidentally, that vehicle was being driven by police officers.
Various Saps units, Search and Rescue Services and medical personnel responded, and it was discovered that the driver had already died.
The body was removed but at the time of writing the vehicle had not been recovered as it had crashed in an inaccessible area directly underneath the bridge.
