WATCH: This is the latest on the water crisis

The Herald visited the Umzimkhulu river berm this morning where businessmen agreed to help Ugu by repairing the existing berm free of charge.

In an effort to provide a solution to the ongoing water problems at Ugu various businessmen have chipped in – at no cost – to provide a short term solution.

This morning the Herald visited the Umzimkhulu river berm where a meeting convened by Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Chief Whip Selvan Chetty and facilitated by Ugu officials was held to determine a way forward.

Four local businessmen said they were willing to provide the inlets  free of charge and were willing to start construction as soon as possible.

After lengthy discussions it was agreed that the inlets would be installed today.
