Sheppie Snippets: Thunee gurus prepare for battle

No 'colour cutting' at this tournament

DON’T miss out on the final Thunee competition for the year. For the past five years, the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort have held a Thunee Classic Challenge which has become extremely popular in South Africa, attracting players from as far afield as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Richards Bay, Ladysmith and Durban as well as many local contenders.

The Wild Coast Thunee Classic Challenge will be played at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort this Saturday, November 2 from midday. Cost is R250 per team of two, and the prize is R30 000.

On Friday, November 1 a Bhangra and Old School classics evening will be held with DJ Vickraj on the turntables at Chico’s buffet restaurant. Cost is R170 per person. Bhangra starts at 6pm. Prayer

The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Alayam is observing Skanda Shasti up until November 2, daily prayer will start at 6pm followed by a service dedicated to Lord Muruga. All devotees are welcome to take part in these prayers. Thirukalyanam (Lord Muruga’s wedding) will be on the last day of Skanda Shashti on Saturday, November 2. Lion’s Den

Musical show

The Port Shepstone Tamil Association presents the musical show ‘Thamizhahan’ at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre next Saturday, November 9 at 7pm.

The show will feature musicians Karthiegasen Pillay, Thiru Kisten, Melini Muruvan, Kas Govender, Keegan Pillay, Kirthan Pillay and Dillan Kanny and will feature Bollywood dancers.

Tickets cost R100 and are available at B&B Confectionery, Sheppie Green Grocers and from members of the temple. Lucky draws will also take place.
