Clinic winds down

The final dental clinic of the year takes place this afternoon and Dr Tahir Khan and his staff are sincerely thanked for all their hard word and assistance throughout the past year. Clinics will recommence in February 2020.

Church news

The Methodist Church’s men’s breakfast takes place at the church this Saturday (November 2) at 7am at a cost of only R30 per person. Take a friend or two along and enjoy a time of food, fellowship and friendship. Book with Debbie Fletcher at the church office at 039 6992948 before tomorrow (October 31).

All church members and adherents are invited to attend the monthly communion service this coming Sunday (3rd), to meet up with new minister Annelie Kotze. A grand tea will be served after the service, so do come along and join in.

Have you started sorting out your belongings for the church’s jumble sale yet? It will be held on Saturday, November 30, between 8.30am and 12 noon, so do make an effort to support this worthy cause.

Anything is welcome, second-hand clothes, shoes, kitchenware and homeware, as well as pre-read books. The last two sales have been very successful and there are high hoped for this one as well.

Popular market

Remember the flea and craft market at Mtwalume on Saturday, November 9, from 9am onwards. The venue is the usual spot – the grassed area alongside the pool at Koelwaters Resort and there will be the usual flea market fare and goodies. Browse the stalls and pick up some unusual stoking fillers for Christmas, which is just around the corner.

Don’t forget that the market has been postponed to a week later than its original advertised date, November 2, to accommodate the Rugby World Cup final on that day. Andy Els will provide his much sought-after brand of music during the day’s proceedings.

Best wishes

Barbara Sates, who was admitted to Umhlanga Hospital last weekend, was discharged and readmitted during the week. She is however making good progress and should be back to her normal chirpy self before long. Please remember all others not feeling too well in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Connie and Duo Olwage celebrate a ‘fifty-years plus’ anniversary on November 4, while birthday wishes go to Gabby Govender, Andrew Farmer and Bheki Mpunzana (October 30), Richard Cole (31st), Heather McDuling and Barry Elston (November 1), Marius Loubser and Bernard Carpenter (3rd), and Elodie Hook, Bets Coetzee and Margaret Bowker (4th).

Vaughan and Beth Friedenthal are very proud that their granddaughter Lucy Friedenthal from Mbombela in Nelspruit has been selected for the SA schools’ swimming team.

Remember to keep Lizzie busy with Hibberdene news and snippets.
