Head inland for park paradise

There will be a special 22km off-road motorcycle trail in support of Stuart Gregory's 'Nuts4Dakar' campaign.

The KwaNzimakwe Multi-Trail Park will be officially opened at Xhuluweshe Mountain in the KwaNzimakwe Traditional Area this Sunday (3rd), from 10am to 3pm.

It is one of Ugu South Coast Tourism’s most innovative tourism initiatives, a culturally-immersive route development project.

The host this Sunday will be Ray Nkonyeni Municipality mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu.

The action-packed day will give one a first-hand view of these exquisite nature trails suited to rugged outdoor excursions and various eco-tourism initiatives.

Local motor dealers, Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach, will give off-roaders the chance to experience the 4×4 obstacle and demo course, including the specially-designed four-hour trail with a stopover for a braai and refreshments.

Also on the programme is the 10km trail run hosted by the South Coast Striders, as well as the fun 4km family trail hike (dogs welcome!) hosted by the South Coast Hospice.

Food and other refreshments will be provided by the local community.

Along the trails, you will experience both the natural beauty as well as the unique heritage sites that make the KZN South Coast the tourism attraction that it is.

Through the establishment of the trails, Ugu tourism is achieving its mandate in addressing the geographical spread of tourists and showcasing the diverse offerings of the incredible coast.

The region is being positioned as an international tourism destination, hinged on its outdoor sporting adventures, agri-tourism, eco-tourism and cultural initiatives, all of which are unsurpassed.

Notable dignitaries expected to attend include the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ms Nomusa Dube-Ncube, as well as Inkosi BS Nzimakwe, under whose jurisdiction the land falls.
