Worker dies in Izotsha explosion

Two other employees suffered burn wounds and are in hospital.

One man was killed two others were seriously injured when a boiler exploded at a factory in Izotsha in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said the explosion occurred at around 3am.

“A 36-year-old man died at the scene. Two other employees suffered burn wounds and were taken to hospital,” he said.

He added that an inquest docket had been opened.

A spokesman for the company confirmed the incident, saying the matter was now under investigation, with details of the cause of the explosion awaited.
