Association turns 25

Tweni locals Margaret Douglass and Joan Hamilton-Shaul attended the Port Shepstone Twinning Association’s 25th anniversary. Port Shepstone is Twinned with Sweden. Selvan Chetty, one of the co-founders of the association, gave a speech on the association’s background and sang a song that was first sung in 1995 on a visit to Sweden to thank them for their support. The objective is to promote social cohesion between races, development in communities and engaging in international exchanges.

Soggy fun

Umzumbe Farmers’ Fun Day was very well attended and young Moira King, Kelly Allan and Shirene Smith took part in the 10km run in the rain last Saturday. It was a wonderful messy affair with plenty of water hazards and slipping and sliding in the mud, but lots of fun was had by all.

With all the rains predicted for the next few days, please be very careful about travelling on the roads that have unrepaired washaways.

More extensive rain could compound the already existing issues, especially Old St Faiths and Sylvan Avenue. Rather use alternative routes.

Hip, hip, hooray
