Sarel bags massive mamba in Port Edward
He was called to a home in Port Edward, where the snake was inside a pigeon coop.
The South Coast’s busy snake catcher Sarel van der Merwe has been at it again, and recently caught a massive black mamba measuring about three metres in length.

“It was not an easy snake to bag,” he said.
Sarel stressed that people must keep their garden clean and not cluttered with junk.
Last week, he had a call out for a green mamba that got stuck under a rusted drum which was leaking tar.
“It took me over an hour to lift the drum and free him from the tar. I took the snake home to put him in a see-through container to take him to the vet to get the tar off him but he died. It could have been from stress. People should think of the environment and the animals before they dump things in their backyard,” he said.
