Secret Santa
For the past seven years, a group of Port Edward women have enjoyed an annual ‘Mystery Christmas’ lunch together. Secret Santa (the organiser) chooses a very unusual, uncommercial venue and this year 15 women arrived at the designated meeting point.

Nobody knew where the event was being held. Everyone followed ‘Santa’ by car and arrived at the beautiful, interesting home of Jeni and Anton Els. Their home is filled with unusual, trendy decor and a spectacular deck close to the crashing waves. Each women was tasked with providing a food item and a fabulous three-course meal was enjoyed. A truly fun start to ‘silly season’.
Margate Bowling Club has run a fun quiz night with a light supper each month for many years. It is a fund-raiser for the club and a platform for locals to get together to enjoy some light-hearted general knowledge questions. Everyone is welcome, so do come along to the next one on December 18. For enquiries contact Johnny Louchat 083 2539825.

Trafalgar Garden Club had a good turnout for their November meeting at the stunning Southbroom home of Sylvia Gudagast. The expansive property boasts a spectacular sea view and Sylvia has worked hard to create an awesome tropical wonderland that inspires visitors to meander the winding pathways. Sadly recent drought conditions have killed a number of her large tree-ferns. It was a lovely and interesting afternoon.
No relief
Umtamvuna residents have been suffering long and hard without water. The term ‘water shortage’ is incorrect for this situation that has been plaguing residents for months. The correct term is ‘water outage’ since there is no actual shortage. The mighty Umtamvuna and Umzimkhulu Rivers that supply water never dry up.
Don’t forget to collect free black rubbish bags from Port Edward Library on Mondays or from the Leisure Bay municipal offices and remember to take your rates bill.
All news to Philippa.
