Two men who shot a business owner and robbed his shop in Gcilima in 2018 have been sentenced.
Sphamandla Robert Stuurman and Akhona Ntoyi, both aged 31, were sentenced in the Port Shepstone Regional Court to 15 years’ imprisonment for business robbery and eight years for attempted murder.

On Monday, July 2 at around 3pm the two men entered the 36-year-old man’s shop, pretending to be customers.
They pointed firearms at the shop assistant and owner and when the owner tried to flee, he was shot in the neck.
Money and property were taken from the shop.
Margate Saps Acting Station Commander, Colonel Scelo Machi commended the investing officer, Detective Sergeant Thandeyakhe Gumede and the detective team for the thorough investigation which led to this conviction.
