Coin donations make for miles of smiles
The money will be given to Port Shepstone Child Welfare to assist with its Back2School programme.
South Coasters and holidaymakers dug deep in their pockets recently and donated coins for the Port Shepstone Rotary Club’s ‘Coins for Charity’ event at Southcoast Mall and Shelly Centre.
Shoppers generously donated to this worthy cause and the broad strip of double-sided tape (smile mile) which was placed across the main promotion court’s floor of the two malls began to grow with not only coins but notes too.

The money collected from this event will be combined with monetary donations by local businesses to aid Port Shepstone Child Welfare with its Back2School programme that assists needy children from the area with school uniforms and supplies for the new school year.
Carol Meth, the PRO at Child Welfare Port Shepstone, said that the organisation is grateful for the wonderful support received from Rotary Port Shepstone, sponsors and the public that contributed on the day. “You certainly have put a smile on many children’s faces as they head back to school next week,” she said.
