Thousands expected to attend ANC provincial rally
More than 30 000 members will be bused in from across the province.
ANC supporters are expected to turn out in their numbers for the party’s provincial 108th anniversary rally.
This year, it will be held at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday, January 26 and more than 30 000 members are expected be bused in from across the province to attend.

On Monday this week, ANC provincial leaders, headed by provincial organiser Nhlakanipho Ntombela, and the party’s regional leaders briefed the media regarding the planned celebrations.
The ANC issues a statement each year dubbed the “January 8th statement”, to mark the anniversary of its launch in 1912.
It also sets the tone for the party’s activities and programmes for the year.
According to Mr Ntombela, the rally celebrates the party’s milestones as well as aiming to mobilise and attract members.
More than 200 buses will be allocated to each ward in various regions.
Leadership from the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) and South African Communist Party (SACP) are also expected to attend.
“This is also part of our efforts to renew the organisation and this region is one of the regions which will be holding its elective conference soon,” he said.
Mr Ntombela added that provincial leaders had already begun gathering in various parts of the South Coast to garner support for the rally, and would conduct walkabouts at malls and taxi ranks.
