Great vibe at Rotary flea market
The flea market, which is in its 30th year, takes place at the Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds in Marine Drive.
It was a hive of activity at Rotary’s Uvongo Flea Market last Saturday with shoppers and visitors of all ages enjoying the great market vibe.
The flea market, which is in its 30th year, takes place at the Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds in Marine Drive, every Saturday and Sunday offering a variety of handmade and authentic crafts.

The 150 stalls offer a wide range of products and bargains for shoppers browsing for unique items such as bead-work, paintings, fashion, baby clothes and home decor.
There are also books on sale, toys, plants and herbs.
For those looking for a light bite, fresh produce or sweet and savoury treats there is always plenty on offer. The popular tea garden affords visitors to the market respite from shopping where they can tuck into bacon and eggs, pancakes or toasted sandwiches.
In one of the stalls, Cathy Buchholz offered shopping bags and mats made from empty chip packets which she collects from schools.
“As part of creating awareness on issues surrounding the environment, we collect these empty packets, clean them and make mats and small shopping bags to encourage people to stop using plastic and rather to stick to bags they can re-use,” she noted.
President of the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast, Brian Blumrick said Rotary’s prime objective is to support small businesses by providing them with a place to market their goods and to create job opportunities.
“The variety of stalls offer shoppers authentic craft style items and it’s also a great place to meet, listen to music and enjoy a great vibe.”
Wilma Lig the PRO for Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast said that by supporting the market, you are not only supporting small businesses but you are also supporting families.
She said anyone who is a crafter or has a unique product can participate in the market.
