A black mamba measuring a whopping 3.2 metres was removed by snake catcher Sarel van der Merwe, inland from Umzumbe, on Monday this week.
Gary Maisch spotted the snake on the roof trusses adjacent to the Wedge Surfboard Factory, and buzzed Sarel.

Gary said the family had lost their cat to a mamba bite last Sunday.
“Mambas seem to like the Umzumbe area, and we had one removed about a month ago.”
Sarel and his friend, Eric Alderson found the mamba had disappeared behind the water reservoir, but it didn’t take Sarel long to nab the big boy!
