Chairman Sunil Singh, said, “This is but a token of appreciation for what our seniors have given to us over the decades by their generous example and community spirit. We want to let them know that they have a place of value in our hearts.”

Guest speaker, Derrhodra Naidoo, supervisor at the Port Shepstone Recovery Centre, delivered an interesting talk on drug addiction.

He explained that when you’re addicted to drugs, you can’t resist the urge to use, no matter how much harm the drugs may cause.

“Addiction is when you can’t stop. Not even when it puts your health in danger, causes financial, emotional, and other problems for you and your loved ones. The urge to use can fill up every waking minute of your day, even if you want to quit” he said.

He added that overcoming drug addiction takes time. ”There’s no cure, but treatment can help users stay drug-free.”
