Talk of the Towns: Please be responsible pet owners
When you do take your dogs out of your yard and into a public space, please be considerate of others.
THE class of 2019 can finally have a bit of a breather as the stress of waiting for their matric results is finally over.
Well done to all matriculants, especially those who went the extra mile in pursuit of their dreams.
For those of you who did not achieve what you had hoped, or who did not pass, take heart.

It may seem like the end of the world at first, but it truly isn’t.
As former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill once said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts!”
During the course of the week, I came across a post on Facebook about dogs swimming in rock pools at public beaches.
Comments on a photo of a dog swimming with its owners in a pool at Preston beach ranged from “Awww”, and “What a lovely sight” to “Totally unhygienic”.
I for one am a huge animal lover, but no matter how much I love dogs, I am still against animals swimming in the same water as us.
It might be cute at first and make for a nice photo, but have you ever thought about what germs or diseases that animal carries?
Even though some will insist that their pets are clean, you never really know if they are carrying anything harmful.
And should you take your dog for a walk along the beach, please ensure that it is on a leash!
I recently saw a family with two small children going down to one of the local beaches with what I assume was a picnic basket.
The family sat down on the sand and in a matter of minutes, two German Shepherds ran towards them, frightening the little ones.
The arrogant owners just sat back and said “They don’t bite”.
That’s not the point!
No matter how much you think you know your animals, they have a mind of their own.
When you do decide to take them out of your yard and into a public space, please be considerate of others.
