(Mostly) big smiles for big school at Umzintovale Primary

The first day of school received some mixed reviews.

THE majority of children entering Grades R and 1 last week were filled with enthusiasm, their excitement at tackling ‘big school’ reflected in the broad smiles on their faces.

There were of course a handful of pupils who gripped onto their parents with eyes full of tears and would not let go.

At Umzintovale Primary, it was not all smooth sailing as some Grade R pupils attempted to ‘escape’.

The children however soon settled down and discovered school can be fun – especially when the play dough came out!

Scottburgh Primary was a hive of activity, with every single parking spot taken and some parents forced to park quite a distance from the school.

By the end of the day, the general consensus among the ‘newbies’ was that the first day was so much fun they couldn’t wait to go back.

A few however said they simply could not wait to go home.
