Sheppie station is recruiting police reservists
A police reservist is a member of the community who performs part-time policing functions or activities for SAPS on a voluntary basis without being paid.

Are you an energetic, intelligent, physically able and mentally fit members of the community who have a desire of offering their services as a reservist?

The following are basic requirements must be met:
- Be a South African by birth,
- Be between the ages of 20-50 years old with documentary proof thereof,
- Complete health questionnaire as determined by the SAPS National Commissioner, at his / her own cost and that is confirmed by a Registered Medical Practitioner,
- Be medically, mentally and physically fit to perform the duties of a reservist,
- Be of a good and sound character, positive background enquiries must be obtained,
- Fit the psychometric profile and complete any other test that may be determined by the SAPS National Commissioner,
- Possess at least a Grade 12 Senior Certificate or a National (Vocational) level 4 Certificate of which there is documentary proof,
- Able to speak, read and write at least two official languages of which English is one,
- Permit fingerprints and DNA tests to be done,
- Completes an assessment questionnaire,
- Is vetted or screened,
- Is prepared to undergo training as may be determined by the SAPS National Commissioner,
- Is prepared to take the oath,
- Employment is not a prerequisite but applicants who are employed will be given preference,
- Provide proof of residential address,
- Does not have any tattoos which will be visible when wearing a uniform and that is irreconcilable with the objectives of the service.
- Understands that his / her services may be terminated at the age of 60,
- Does not have a criminal record or pending criminal or departmental cases pending against him / her. ALL cases must be declared.
Additional requirements when applying are:
- Specify for which station you are applying,
- Original documents must be presented when authentication is done.
Certified copies of the following must be submitted with the application:
- Identification document,
- Drivers licence,
- Matric / Senior Certificate ( Grade 12 or equivalent qualification),
- Additional qualifications,
- Proof of residence,
- Proof of permanent employment.
Application forms can be either located at the nearest Police Station or at https://www.saps.gov.za.
At SAPS Port Shepstone, the applicable documents will be at office no 1 on the ground floor.
Kindly note that there are specific instructions pertaining to the completion of the application forms which must be adhered to and that the application forms are not for sale.
