Margate Moves: Important meetings … and catching a Legend or three

There has probably never been a more important time in the town’s history than now.

There’s a hugely important meeting for Margate residents, business owners and ratepayers at Margate Sands on Wednesday, February 19 at 5pm for 5.30pm.

The main item on the agenda is that of establishing an SRA (Special Rates Area) which would see a small levy introduced, subsequent to a successful vote.

This would go towards improving the safety and security of the town, as well as the general maintenance.

There has probably never been a more important time in the town’s history than now.

Barry Smit (chairman of the Margate Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association) and Jo-Anne Wentzel (chairman of the Margate Business Association) have urged as many as possible to attend.

It’s an ‘information’ evening, with the plan of how to go about it all to be thoroughly and carefully explained.

Meanwhile, The Legends received a warm welcome at the Fisherman’s Net in Southbroom last Friday night.

The venue was fully booked and the young waitrons did a sterling job.

The band was set up outside, along with a dance floor.

Overall, there was a really good vibe, which the rain did not spoil.

In other entertainment, there was a bit of confusion over the correct number for the Moondeckers, who had a full moon rising evening at the whale deck in Ramsgate last Sunday night.

For future reference, it is 083 2867901 and it belongs to Adrian Voice.

While all’s well that ends well, there is now a person in Johannesburg who must be wondering who and what the Moondeckers is all about!
