Talk of the Towns: Valentine’s Day – not so sweet for some
You're probably wondering why anyone would be anti-Valentine's when it's a day meant to be filled with love and good vibes.
ROSES are red, violets are blue, I’m one of the select few that’s anti-Valentine’s Day… how about you?
This Friday is Valentine’s Day, the day for lovers to express their affection for one another, mostly by giving gifts such as roses, chocolates and teddy bears.

You’re probably wondering why anyone would be anti-Valentine’s when it’s a day meant to be filled with love and good vibes.
My point is why show all this love and affection on such a grand scale only once a year?
If you really love someone, shouldn’t you be giving them that special treatment 365 days a year and not just on one day when you’re expected to do so?
But anyway… that’s just my opinion.
As for the single folk, most are happy with their solo status, while others feel pressured to enter a relationship before February 14, simply because they can’t stand the thought of being alone on yet another Valentine’s Day.
If for some reason you have no choice but to spend another ‘lovey-dovey’ day by yourself or if you’re an anti-Valentine’s person or couple, it’s really not the end of the world.
There are actually a few benefits to not celebrating this day.
Think of it this way – you get to save money on gifts and you’re not stressed about what to do to impress your lover.
Lots of couples buy each other chocolates and sweets.
If you don’t receive any this year, that’s great because you don’t have to worry about weight gain or cavities!
And for single chocoholics, you’ll benefit the following day because all the goodies will be on sale.
I also feel as though a lot of couples document their lives on social media more than they should, especially on Valentine’s Day, posting about how much they love one another and what gifts they were given.
Don’t go go public with these very personal emotions.
This is something which should be shared just between you two, or three… if you’re a polygamist.
