Attorney publishes crime novel
Being turned down by publishers did not stop this author from bringing his characters to life.
Although it was never a dream to write a book, attorney Mandisi Ntshengulana has self-published his first book, a crime novel, ‘Losers Win?’
The original manuscript was destroyed in a house fire and after rewriting it, he faced more obstacles from publishers. “I have been turned down by publishers in the last three to four years. They told me it’s not a genre they are looking for,” said Mr Ntshengulana.

Nonetheless, he persevered and the book is now available to the public. “It is like an action movie, about kidnapping and ransom. The main characters are Luvo and Mthobeli who are top professionals in their jobs but due to circumstances they ruin everything they have worked hard for. I would like to see it turned into a movie.”
He relocated to the South Coast from the Eastern Cape in 2016 and now lives in Margate. He has sold several copies and has had positive feedback. Some readers have told him they can relate to the first part of the book.
Mr Ntshengulana is planning a second book, featuring the same characters.
