Her experience is extensive, and includes taking care of babies in the neonatal intensive care unit, some weighing as little as 700 grams, which she says is one of the most challenging but also most rewarding aspects of the work she does.

She is also experienced in managing the health of young children as well that of teenagers up to the age of 18 years, with a special interest in children with difficulties in performing academically.

Rob Ferreira, general manager at Netcare Margate Hospital, said they were privileged to be able to offer critical paediatric services to the community and to have Dr Jasmat’s expertise in their new neonatal intensive care unit.

“Dr Jasmat believes that her own experience as a mother makes her a better doctor, especially as a paediatrician, and we trust that she will have a long and rewarding journey with us,” he said.
