LSC ANC gears up for conference
The regions will hold the conferences in the first quarter of the year.
The ANC’s biggest KZN regions, eThekwini, Lower South Coast (LSC) and Moses Mabhida are expected to hold their elective conferences in April or May this year.
The regions have indicated that they are ready as they did not want to get to the middle-of-the-year plan without having held these conferences.

Provincial chairman Sihle Zikalala confirmed that the regions will hold the conferences in the first quarter of the year.
Unity and service delivery are believed to be the top priority for leaders hoping to be elected.
In 2017, the LSC region was disbanded, following squabbles between then Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma (NDZ) and Cyril Ramaphosa (CR17) factions prior to the ANC’s national election in December 2017.
A regional task team was then set-up to oversee processes within the ANC office.
Its coordinator, Xolani Luthuli said they had initially agreed to hold the conference on April 4 and 5. However, due to delays in the processes, ta new date would be announced.
He said the new dates would ensure that audit processes and branch general meetings were conducted in a manner that would satisfy members.
Mr Luthuli added that delays had also been caused by the new online membership systems which were recently introduced, due to the fact that staff had to be trained to use the new systems.
There are high hopes that new leadership will look at stabilising the region politically and stabilising governance.
“Unity is paramount. We are also looking at renewing the organisation and strengthening our structures for the upcoming local government elections,” he said.
Mr Luthuli added that they understood that they needed to redeem themselves because there were “a number of challenges in the district.”
