“There were no visible injuries on the man so an inquest docket was opened,” said Capt Gwala.
This despite certain media houses reporting that he had sustained severe head trauma.
Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst, also confirmed paramedics were called out and assisted a doctor who was already on site.
Mr Kramert was declared dead at the scene.
A post-mortem was conducted this week.
“We have spoken today (Tuesday) with the doctor who did the autopsy. He found that apoplexy was the cause of death and we are satisfied with this,” said Mr Kramert’s brother, Reinhold.
“No foul play is suspected and this was subsequently confirmed by the pathologist, who ruled this a natural cause of death,” said Capt Gwala.
“It is a great relief to us. Gerhard loved this golf course, he felt very much at home here,” said Reinhold.
Mr Kramert also sent a statement to the country club, thanking them for their assistance.
“We hope that your country club will not be harmed by the tragic death of Gerhard,” he said.
Gerhard and his wife Annemarie who are from Bavaria in the south of Germany have been visiting the South Coast for about 10 years.
“He was a family person – responsible, kind to everybody, honest and a generous husband and brother,” said Reinhold.
Margate Country Club also released a statement, saying “It is with great sadness that we lost one of our valued overseas members. The family has been visiting Margate Country Club for the past few years and we have all become very fond of them.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to Mr Kramert’s family and friends on their great loss.”
Ugu South Coast Tourism (USCT) CEO Phelisa Mangcu also expressed sincere condolences to the family.
USCT also extends its gratitude to the paramedics, Saps, Margate Country Club and other concerned individuals for their swift action in attending to Mr Kramert.
