The incident has been reported to police.

Fake news of a Port Shepstone Secondary pupil being diagnosed with Covid-19 has been doing the rounds on WhatsApp.

“I feel like I am not welcome in my own community,” said Yasheen.

He first learnt of the message on receiving a call  on the evening of March 22.

The person who spread the rumour has said ‘sorry’, however, Yasheen has reported the incident to police and a docket has been opened.

“I have not been out of Albersville, let alone Port Shepstone. Since school closed, I have been at home,” said the grade 12 pupil.

Yasheen visited a doctor who diagnosed him ‘suffering from anxiety and agitation because of a fake post about him on social media’.
