It’s a ‘hole’ lot of good news for Pennington

Repairs began on Friday last week and are expected to be completed within two months.

PENNINGTON’S infamous “Big Hole” is finally being repaired.

This section of the R102 collapsed early last year after heavy rains and formed a massive hole, making it difficult for drivers to negotiate.

Repairs began on Friday last week and are expected to be completed within two months.

“The rehabilitation of this major local road link will be a great relief to our local communities,” said DA councillor, Eddie Baptie.

“The by-pass project, coordinated by myself and built with so much cooperation and contribution from Pennington businessmen and individuals has served us well.”

Cllr Baptie aded that a lot of money would be saved on fuel once the repairs were completed as people no longer had to take alternative routes to avoid the hole.

“The economic and social impact of keeping the road open has been immense, also considering the impact it would have had on the hundreds of Malangeni residents who depend on the Pennington clinic for their primary healthcare,” he said.
